Mine's a 2019, and the bit of surging definitely won't kill you but it surprises you sometimes. Eventually I will do the tune to fix it, but it's not something I can confess that I'm really worried about.
He's obviously been on my bike pretty often, he's also raced vehicles off-road and has designed and modified vehicle upgrades like I did.
And we're back to this is why I'm not a huge fan of the internet. Everybody who has never ridden a bike, and only reads reviews has all the answers.
Weeelllll.... While maintaining speed, not accelerating, the bike tends to stumble a little tiny bit. If you would like to call that a flat spot under no acceleration, that is fine. If you would like to call it Jimmy that is fine. This is why I hate the internet, instead of having a discussion...
That's pretty much how I grew up, bikes or cars or whatever. You understood how it was going to act and coped with it.
Of course, some of the YouTubers are almost jumping off the bike and screaming in terror.
Mine has an occasional surge in mid-range, it startled me the first couple times but to read about it or hear about it, you would think the bike explodes or something.
It has a little tiny occasional surge. I think people look at the YouTube reviews and need to have panic attacks. I also think a lot of them need to spend quality time on something like a 75 or 7 Honda hawk.
I don't understand. It's like people have a panic attack because the bike feels a little bit weird at mid-range. It's by no stretch of the imagination of sport bike, but it's not a cruiser either. It makes plenty of usable power in a useful place in the power band.
I've thought about 1800 miles in the last 14 months. Considering I have little kids and I travel a lot I don't feel too bad although before kids I was 15 to 20,000 mile a year rider
It's an awful lot of bike for a beginner, pay attention to it so it doesn't get away from you. Wouldn't be my first choice for starting but since you already own it set it to rain mode, and be careful.
Ii lived about 15 minutes from Manchester for a couple years. Lady I was dating had a house in a development there. Can't for the life of me remember the town name.
Welcome aboard, this is a really good forum. I left Connecticut about 9 years ago when they charged me over $200 to file a form so I could pay business tax in connecticut. I then went to Vermont and now I'm in Alabama where people will actually leave me alone.
Whereabouts in Connecticut are you?
I find I don't mind the range if I'm actually out riding. Getting off the bike to stretch for a minute and maybe getting a soda doesn't bother me that much.
Where I don't like the range is when I'm running errands locally. It seems every three trips to town I have to fill it up. Again, it's not...
