2022 exhaust system info.

Sadly the rear header is different on the 2022, Factory rear pipe is higher and different shield mount spot.

This means oem or aftermarket headers from the 2019 will not work with the 2022, unless you buy the rear exhaust section, which means pulling the tank.

Toce is working on making tweaks for their lowmount system to work on the 2022 and Ryan/lloydz with the ecu mapping, it won’t be long now

also Toce will still be making exhausts for the 2019

If the 2022 stock headers were put on a 2019 FTR, would that allow more corner lean?
Theoretically yes, but as @ferraiolo1 said, you can't fit them unless you buy and install the exhaust section from the head to right ride of the bike. Which means taking off the seat, subframe, tank...

Ugh, longer term I was planning to get a full system, maybe in a year or two. My worry now is if the 2019 becomes a unicorn in terms of exhaust layout it could be hard to find an aftermarket system. 😔

When it becomes a unicorn, we should start to call the 2019 model the "Real FTR" to keep it's market value high 🙃 . A bike with 17" wheels isn't a Flat Tracker any more, right?

I agree. As soon as they made the Gen2 shorter, less travel, smaller wheels, etc... Gen1 became the "REAL FTR" IMO.

I get that they went with 17” wheels because there is a much larger variety of sport oriented tires available for that size, but I personally much prefer the look of the 18/19 combo on the OG FTR’s. That’s the biggest thing I see and notice on the new ones.

Interestingly, there's a still a wealth of choice in good sport touring tires for the 2019 model and I can't wait for the first 2022 owners complaining about excessive tire wear.

I wore down a set of Sport Attack 3 (similar category than the Metzeler M9 RR: "street hypersport") on my little bike in less than 3000 miles and went back to sport touring tires instead.

Be interesting to see how the Avon Spirits I've nailed on fair as they are classed as a 'hypersport touring?' Wrote on the garage door at what mileage they were put on so I could remember come next swap out.

I've got hypersports on my Honda. I get about 3500kms out of them (will be changing them soonish as I'm commuting on it again now)

but I expect to get that on a hypersport.

I have a ‘22 and don’t take offense, I like both for what they are, but my riding is geared more to the new model which I purchased. I think my model should be called the STR Street track racer, vs you guys with the Flat track racer.
I wanted a pure sport tire, another reason I didn’t purchase the ‘19 right away. I am coming from a Ducati that 3000 miles was all I got out of a pair of tires. The Metzlers are doing great so far, but the weather has been crap here lately. Hopefully next week I can get some more miles on the bike.

I don’t think I’ll be trading my 2019 FTR 1200 S for the 2022 even though I am only 5’-6” with 28” inseam. I don’t like the fact they made it impossible to just unbolt the cat and mount choice of exhaust components. Also I don’t like giving up suspension travel.
