FTR DISCONTINUED?!

I keep hearing the FTR will be discontinued because of the bad sales numbers. Anyone else heard this?
yes I've heard it's been discontinued but no idea the reason why.
it is a bit of a niche bike, those of us who have one love them but it's quite a different bike for Indian and people associate Indian with cruisers.
Every person I tell 'my other bike is an Indian FTR' says 'oh a big cruiser thing? wow'.
and then I show them a photo and they say 'Damn! That's one good looking bike!'

Like the Harley V Rod and Night Rod, it sold well outside the US but I'm not sure of domestic vs international sales numbers.
who knows, it might be back in 2026 with some changes.

Didn't they skip a year early on like '20 or something? It could come back with changes.

Yeah it is such a misunderstood bike. It only makes sense when you’ve tried it and then you’ll fall in love with it. The numbers on paper don’t do any justice to the amount of fun the torque brings.

Also, I find it always so weird they try to market it as a track bike over here in Europe😂 it’s everything but a track bike. Although it’s fun to take for a spin on tracks

Yes, that 60" wheelbase sure doesn't scream "track" to me. I think my Vitpilen is less than 54".

yup they did - and that's a possibility too.
it might be that they're just not making any changes for 2025 given they changed it in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

If they sold 8000 FTRs since 2019 it’s a lot, possibly less. Not enough to be profitable, or to add another non-cruiser model to the range.

But yes, buy one before they run out!

They added gps in 23+. Other than that nothing, just colors.

In the grand scheme of things. The ftr had a good 5 year run and went relatively unchanged. I’d wager you guess the next version will have more performance to compete with other bikes in the segment with more power now.

I think '22 may have had slightly different tuning compared to 23+. At least that's how DJ made it sound. Well, and '22 had the old square dash....

In a way, it's good if it does so I can get a nice resale value on mine :)

But overall, pretty sad if that is the case. Would be nice to keep upgrading mine every 5 yrs or so to a newer model.

that would be the dream. shave some weight while they are at it

About the only way I’d trade mine for a new one is more power.
Shouldn’t be running close to a damn sportster S.

So I talked to a marketing manager from Indian Europe. Here's the deal. They stopped producing the current FTR, because they can't no longer sell it in 2027. This is because of the euro5+ regulations (ftr is euro5). So they have enough stock to sell the bike as is... for the next two years. After that they'll have to come up with a new engine. The question is, will they make the investment when sales numbers of the FTR aren't that great?
