I respect, admire and understand those that maintain and wrench on their bikes to this degree. I used to do the same.

Now, I just do oil changes (sort of regularly), fix things that need it (which is rare) and clean every once in a while. One of the many positives of old age as regards motorcycles: the realization that if I do nothing except the absolute minimum for my bikes, the bike will still outlast me.

For some, not all, this is more of a relaxing and satisfaction experience. I look forward to my time spent in my garage wrenching on the bikes. Especially the ftr which is one of the easier bikes I’ve ever worked on.

Just to be clear, I'm not making any kind of negative judgement about the work the OP has done. To the contrary, I think it's great! I also enjoy tinkering on my bikes for all the reasons you've mentioned.

It's just that the ticking clock is much louder now and my priority has changed to max riding, minimum wrenching.

I owned a garage for a number of years. I have no issue with the work, it's time for me, too.
The days seem to pass quicker and there is always something to do. I hate having the bike unavailable for a little wind therapy.

Have to admit, I have always enjoyed the satisfaction of using a machine my hands have been in.
