Playing devils advocate... my understanding (I'm not a physicist) is that frame sliders are great at protecting machines when they fall over at a standstill. At speed however they "catch" the floor, curbs or worse dig into soft ground causing the bike to tumble. This in turn, causes more damage...

Would be fair to say the takas (Rimutaka Hills) will see a new level of Indian attacks ;) There are a few nice hills on the other side (South Island) so a ferry trip or two may be in order.
