2022+ Sidestand on 2019 FTR

Question for those who have done this conversion. I put a set of 17s on my 19 FTR and purchased the 2022 sidestand (just the stand) with the part number: 1025611-458. The cut at the top is different than my 2019's which allows for it to travel too far forward towards the front of the bike when it is in the down position and as a result I am unable to balance the bike on it. Do I need the entire 2022 sidestand base plate also or is there just something wrong with the piece I've gotten?

you need that additional base plate part too. they made a change to the side stand part way through production of the 2019's so those with an early one, it won't fit without that other base plate bit.
