self made luggage rack for my ftr - easy to remove almost invisible if not mounted

i got my ftr last september and had only a few weeks to get 2000 km on it - till the snow was coming...
what i did miss during this time - that i could not carry anything with me (sure used a backpack) but i didn't want the tank pack,...
so i looked for the official and all after markets but could not find one that fitted my needs (all are extending the rear end....) - so i decided to make my own - based on the sw-motech quick connector which i have on my xjr since 2003 and they did work great till today.
if i do not had my topcase/side cases with me the mounts are almost invisible
IMG_3466.JPG
so i ordered the long connector used on the right bottom side of the pic - 4x + 4x quick lock screws and a tank ring pro + quick mounts for top accessories 90,-- EUR
as i'm using the FTR 100% only single-seated - i used 10mm full carbon fiber for the connection and on the outside nice looking carbon fiber tubes where the other fitted into 12mm/10mm - apx. 50,-- EUR
and for the connection, i used from my balcony leftovers but this shouldn't be too expensive as well.
as mounting plate, i used 6mm carbon fibre plate 20x30 cm apx. 70,-- EUR
so this is how it looks like now - and i can mount all my sw-motech gear on it - and if not needed - i just need a coin and can remove it within one minute (just 4 quick lock screws)...
as it is still too cold and lots of snow in the mountains - i could not test it - i might just lower it a bit as it looks very high on the pic's but that is simple - just cutting the tubes - but first lets get it tested during rides
i might powder coat the connectors in black as well - but lets see...

with the plate i made - i'm able to mount any sw-motech kit on it - here are some examples - i'm even able to mount my old givi top case 46l on it - the same adapter is used as on my xjr 1300 sp /2001 - today the pic's are without the seat cowl.

i bought the frame fittings from sw-motech - the same is used on my xjr - maybe there are better ones but at least i know them and how they looked like and do fit great on the ftr as well

4x sw-motech: KFT.00.064.001/B - Anbaublech Auspuff / Fußraste KFT S235J2. t=5,0 mm. Pulverbeschichtet RAL 9005.
4x sw-motech: CAM.00.KFT - Schnellverschluss-Ersatzteil Für EVO Kofferträger. QUICK-LOCK

then i made my own connector from stainless steel 3mm plate - simple bended 3 times and drilled a hole to fit the screw(quick lock) for mounting on the sw-motech bracket apx. 0,5cm x 4cm x 4cm x2cm
here are some pic's of the prototype made from alu - and a friend of mine capable of welding stainless steel made them and then i powder coat them black.

22-05-25 11-33-45 3595.jpg22-05-25 11-34-03 3596.jpg22-05-25 11-34-14 3597.jpg22-05-25 11-35-07 3598.jpg22-05-25 11-35-20 3599.jpg22-05-25 11-35-40 3601.jpg22-05-25 11-35-29 3600.jpg

so this is a simple and i believe easy to make/use mounting system - if there are ftr owners out there which are interested - im might be able to provide more details or even produce this as a final product for their own assembly and mounting.

sorry that the bike is so dirty - but i'm waiting till my ECU comes back from the lloydz remote tuning center - hopefully today i get it and let's see it this makes a difference...
