By adding a lubricant to the spindle, you reduce the load carrying ability of it and move the load to the threads/nut.
Oh snap! I should be dead by now, right?

146,000 miles on just one of my Kawasaki ZRX 1200's and the axles are fine with grease. The other 6 bikes, the same grease. The other 40 bikes or so I have owned, same grease.

Talk about internet hyperbole. I mean, it's always better to beat the crap out of the axle to get it out when it's corroded, right?

Er no, just explaining the mechanics, whether you feel you should be dead or not is irrelevent.
