Took the stock bike to the drag strip

Spent a night at the drag strip. The 98* heat didn’t help. Tried launching in normal mode (wheelie control and tc kicked in and cut power on the launch) tried sport (little better. Tc still kicked on and cut the bike out) rest of the runs were everything off. The fastest time run was where I just rode out the wheelie in 1st and 2nd and no wheel spin. Didn’t get my 11.32 I wanted. I’ll try again when it’s cooler and after it’s tuned.

I’ll be happy when it’s closer to the trap speed of my old Fz1.

No it’s not. And per some of the tuning posts I’ve seen muffler on or off makes minimal difference if you have the cat on. And yes very humid.

I don’t have tpms.

That was the traction control/abs light that comes on when you go into track mode.

But yes I did lower it down to 35psi for experimenting. Didn’t make much difference.

Ran the same times as it did stock.

The difference was. When it was stock I could ride out wheelie in 1st with feathering the clutch, and it wouldn’t come up in 2nd

Well now with all this extra torque, a better tire, and a clutch that instantly grabs. I couldn’t keep the front end on the ground, it was flying up in 1st and 2nd. I couldn’t really ride it out.

Wheelie control just cuts the power, and it’s even slower.

I’m going to strap the front end down and wait for a slightly smaller sprocket for the rear before going again

My buddy with the apes wanted to run a 100. His final run was a [email protected]. Not too bad for a Harley with mild upgrades.

I saw your video on YouTube this morning and then went back and watched your post from July 20, 2019. Essentially you ran the same time and speed. The mods you made seem to make it a little more wheelie prone.
I would be curious how the bike compares pre and post mods in a roll-on test. The added torque should help you accelerate faster once the bike is moving (more like real life riding). I bet it pulls much harder out of a corner than stock. That is where your mods really pay off...

Alright. Got bored and went back to the track.

was only able to get three runs in this time.

I figured I would try standard mode with wheelie control again. With the stock tires, they kept breaking loose so the tc would kick in as well as the wheelie control causing it to fall on its face off the line.

with the Bridgestone tire and no burnout, I didn’t break it loose once. Wheelie control worked well. It was also 98* again, but I did get my best time so far.

still more rider mod work to do

A “quick shifter” should help your drag race time. As far as I know no one on the forum has installed one yet....

There are a few that have. Healtech is the only one who makes one.

I usually buy them used as I can’t justify $350 for a new one.
