Thanks for looking.
I got a set of indian carbon tank covers "cheap".
the covers have Indian logo plates on them and they
don't seem easily removed.
How do I get them off and how do I clean up the carbon
I want to use this decal instead

Use heat, like a hair dryer. They are installed with double sided tape.

Then use googone or similar to remove the glue.

if they come off without bending too much I'll put one on my truck

You can use fishing line to get under the emblems and cut thru the adhesive rather then bending the emblem upward.
I used wd40 to remove the remaining adhesive before cleaning them up.

As Ferraiolo typed .. use heat .. slowly !
A auto/car trim panel remover kit will help out from burning fingers.

I use dental floss. Heat it up a bit whit a hair dryer or low heat gun, use the dental floss like a saw on the tape
